Ayla Matencio
Manager
Hello, my name is Ayla and I am the Manager of NumberWorks'nWords Remuera. I grew up in the Philippines and in 2012, my family moved to New Zealand. I continued my studies in Auckland and completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science. My passion towards teaching and technology led me to this career, involving both.
I have taught young learners from different backgrounds at high school level. Watching them grow and build confidence is one of the reasons why I love what I do. I believe in creating a positive and fun learning environment, where students are able to discover their own potential. I look forward to meeting you and discussing how we can help your child reach their full potential.

What are the lesson times?
Our centres run one-hour tutoring sessions after school, Monday to Friday, usually starting from 3:30pm. We aim to be as flexible as possible to fit around your child’s other activities. Just let us know what works best for you!
What ages do you teach?
We work with students aged 5 to 16, covering all levels of ability; from early learners to those preparing for exams or needing extension work (more of challenge).
What subjects do you teach?
At NumberWorks'nWords we specialise in both maths and English.
What happens if my child is sick and can't make it?
Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll cancel your child’s tutoring session for that day and schedule a make-up session during the same term.
Which schools in the area do you have students attending from?
We have students from Auckland Grammar School, Epsom Girls’ Grammar School, Baradene College, St Cuthbert’s College, Diocesan, King’s, ACG Parnell, Mt Eden Normal Primary, Newmarket Primary, Saint Kentigern, Parnell District, Balmoral Primary and Intermediate, St Michael’s, Remuera Intermediate, Remuera Primary, St Peter’s College, Selwyn College, Victoria Avenue School, Kohimarama School, Sacred Heart College, Cornwall Park District, Kowhai Intermediate, Auckland Normal Intermediate, Epsom Normal Primary, Ficino School, Meadowbank Primary, Parnell Primary, Stonefields, but we welcome students from all schools.
Does the centre have any parking?
Yes! We have several reserved carparks right in front of the centre. If these are full, you can also use the Westfield Mall multi-storey car park just across the road, which offers 3 hours of free parking.
What amenities or shops are near your location?
We’re located in the heart of Newmarket, directly across from Westfield Mall, which has a wide range of shops, a food court, and a movie theatre. Just across the road, you’ll also find Krispy Kreme, and down the street is ASB. Behind us on Nuffield Street, there are boutique shops, a small New World supermarket, and several cafes.
What's the best way to find your centre?
You’ll find us in a small cluster of shops right opposite Westfield Mall, next to Fully Promoted and Regal Drycleaners. Look for our bright red signage and large billboard: we’re hard to miss!
