Jackie & Andrew Pound
Owners
Hi! We are Jackie and Andrew, and we own the Takapuna NumberWorks'nWords centre. Our two daughters have also been involved in the business, both as tutors and part-time office workers (Jessie was a student for a number of years).
We both came from teaching backgrounds. The thing that keeps us so motivated is working with children and helping them to be the best they can be. This means success in maths and English, and just as importantly, it means watching them grow in confidence and self-belief. We believe in creating a vibrant, happy, and safe environment that students of all ages look forward to being a part of. We welcome you to visit us in the Takapuna centre!

Hi, I’m Bronwyn, and I’m proud to be the Manager of NumberWorks’nWords Takapuna. I joined the NumberWorks’nWords team after working as an Assistant Principal and teacher at a local primary school on Auckland’s North Shore. Over the years, I’ve taught in a wide range of settings, including schools in Auckland, a small country school in Whanganui, Alternative Education, and an international school in Brazil. These experiences have shaped my strong belief in the power of education to open doors and create opportunities for every learner. My passion for teaching has continued to grow at NumberWorks’nWords, where I see firsthand how fun, structured learning can truly transform students’ confidence and progress.
Outside of work, I’m a mum to four boys who, after living in many places, agree that the North Shore is the best place to call home.

Frequently asked questions
What are the lesson times?
Our centres run one-hour tutoring sessions after school, Monday to Friday, usually starting from 3:30pm. We aim to be as flexible as possible to fit around your child’s other activities. Just let us know what works best for you!
What ages do you teach?
We work with students aged 5 to 16, covering all levels of ability; from early learners to those preparing for exams or needing extension work (more of challenge).
What subjects do you teach?
At NumberWorks'nWords we specialise in both maths and English.
What happens if my child is sick and can't make it?
Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll cancel your child’s tutoring session for that day and schedule a make-up session during the same term.
