Leanne Rotorua

Leanne Stewart

Owner

Kia ora! My name is Leanne Stewart, owner of the Rotorua branch of NumberWorks'nWords. I am of Ngai Tahu, Rangitane and Te Ati Awa descent but grew up in Palmerston North, moving to Hastings for my first teaching job in 1997. In the 23 years since, I have spent time in almost each facet of primary education, having taught Year 2-Year 8, holding roles including classroom teacher, Deputy Principal, and specialist teacher for an ASD student. During this time I completed further education in Dyslexia and Specific Learning Difficulties, and other areas.

Outside of teaching, I have a family of teenagers, and weekends are spent immersed in dance and cricket. I look forward to meeting you for a free assessment to talk about how I can support your child.

A NumberWorks’nWords assessment in English and/or maths is a great way to see how your child is doing and where they might need support.

Frequently asked questions

What are the lesson times?

Our centres run one-hour tutoring sessions after school, Monday to Friday, usually starting from 3:30pm. We aim to be as flexible as possible to fit around your child’s other activities. Just let us know what works best for you!

What ages do you teach?

We work with students aged 5 to 16, covering all levels of ability; from early learners to those preparing for exams or needing extension work (more of challenge).

What subjects do you teach?

At NumberWorks'nWords we specialise in both maths and English.

What happens if my child is sick and can't make it?

Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll cancel your child’s tutoring session for that day and schedule a make-up session during the same term.

Which schools in the area do you have students attending from?

We happily welcome students from all schools in the area.

What’s the process for dropping off and picking up my child?

We encourage parents to have their children at the centre a little before class starts. While parents do not need to come in, they are always welcome. At the end of class, students, especially younger ones, are encouraged to wait inside for pickup.

Does the centre have any parking?

Parking in this part of the CBD can be limited, and there are no designated NumberWorks’nWords spaces. We recommend allowing extra time before lessons in case you need to park further away. If you are dropping off, please be mindful of other parked cars.

Are there amenities or shops close to your location?

Our centre is located in the heart of the city, surrounded by a variety of cafes, shops, supermarkets, and other convenient amenities.

What’s the best way to find your centre?

Our centre is located between Sport Bay of Plenty and The Midwives, just past Central Pharmacy.
