Brittany Yeo Hamilton Central

Brittany Yeo

Manager

Kia ora and welcome to NumberWorks’nWords! I am the owner of this centre and have been a part of NumberWorks’nWords since I was a teenager! When I was 13 years old, Dad opened the Palmerston North Centre and I was the first student on the books! The support and teaching I received from my tutors over the years has shaped me to this day. My background is in Primary Teaching and Counselling. I completed my Bachelor of Education at Massey University in 2007 and my Master of Counselling at the University of Waikato in 2020.

I have been involved in running NumberWorks’nWords centres for over 15 years. While I am not at the Hamilton Centre centre day to day, I work closely with Shannon in a supportive role as the owner. I love how our programme allows us to work with each student in the way that best supports their individual learning needs. It is important to me that your child’s learning experience here supports them to reach their full potential. Our shared aim is to make a positive difference in your child’s life.

Shannon Halley

Manager

Kia ora, my name is Shannon and I am the centre manager of Hamilton Central. With over a decade of experience working with children, I have had the privilege of working at NumberWorks'nWords Hamilton Central since 2012.

A key responsibility of mine is developing and refining individualised learning goals for each student. Recognising that every learner progresses at their own pace and may require different approaches to grasp concepts, I ensure that our teaching methods are tailored to meet their unique needs.

The most rewarding part of my role is witnessing the "lightbulb moment" – when a challenging concept finally clicks for a student. I believe that learning should be engaging and enjoyable, and we work hard to create a positive, fun, and supportive environment where students can thrive academically and grow in confidence.

I'd love to chat about how we can best support your child in their learning journey. Feel free to drop by the center or give us a call anytime - I'm always happy to help.

Frequently asked questions

What are the lesson times?

Our centres run one-hour tutoring sessions after school, Monday to Friday, usually starting from 3:30pm. We aim to be as flexible as possible to fit around your child’s other activities. Just let us know what works best for you!

What ages do you teach?

We work with students aged 5 to 16, covering all levels of ability; from early learners to those preparing for exams or needing extension work (more of challenge).

What subjects do you teach?

At NumberWorks'nWords we specialise in both maths and English.

What happens if my child is sick and can't make it?

Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll cancel your child’s tutoring session for that day and schedule a make-up session during the same term.
