Raewyn Hansen

Owner

Hi, I’m Raewyn Hansen - the proud owner/manager of the world’s southernmost NumberWorks’nWords centre! We established the centre in the heart of Invercargill’s CBD in 2007, after teaching mainly in primary schools, for 30+ years.

Establishing meaningful, reciprocal relationships with parents and their children is at the heart of what we do. Our fabulous young tutors not only excel in their subject speciality, but are also open, friendly, and know how to make each child succeed and feel good about learning. We pride ourselves on knowing every child, finding out what makes them tick, and designing a specific, individualised program for each child, whether they need a confidence boost, to catch up, or for extension. Frequently asked questions

What are the lesson times?

Our centre run one-hour tutoring sessions after school, Monday to Friday, usually starting from 4:00pm. We aim to be as flexible as possible to fit around your child’s other activities. Just let us know what works best for you!

What ages do you teach?

We work with students aged 5 to 16, covering all levels of ability; from early learners to those preparing for exams or needing extension work (more of challenge).

What subjects do you teach?

At NumberWorks'nWords we specialise in both maths and English.

What happens if my child is sick and can't make it?

Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll cancel your child’s tutoring session for that day and schedule a make-up session during the same term.

Which schools in the area do you have students attending from?

We service all Invercargill primary and secondary schools and surrounding area rural schools in Southland.

Does the centre have any parking?

We ask that you observe road and child safety protocols when dropping and picking up children. We advise parking just around the corner in Yarrow Street and your child can safely walk around the corner to our building. Alternatively, park across the road and walk your child across. If it is a quick drop off/pick up try the carpark of Bayley's Real Estate (previously Westpac).

What amenities, shops or services are located near your centre? (e.g., supermarket cafe, gym etc)

We are in the CBD so we are handy to all conveniences - cafes, gyms and retail shops.

What’s the best way to find your centre?

Between Eagles& Eagles law on the corner, and the Optometrist and Dentist on the other side. Opposite the Laundromat on the corner of Kelvin and Yarrow Streets, and the Public Trust Building.
