At Level 1 we are back with in-centre tutoring lessons.
Is your child falling down the COVID slide? We can boost their learning.
If you're searching for a maths or English tutor in Dunedin, come and check out our Crawford St tuition centre. We're part of a network of tuition centres Nelson parents review highly.
Our curriculum-linked programmes are designed by experts to deliver the results your child needs (catch-up, extension or exam prep), while also building confidence and increasing love of learning. We teach children aged 5 to 15 and regular reports show how your child is improving. Every student has an individualised programme and works towards agreed personal goals. Results are celebrated.
Effective and engaging maths tuition will ensure your child has the numeracy knowledge and thinking skills required for improved maths performance. We help children who struggle with maths, as well as those who are gifted.
Whether your child is a reluctant reader and writer or an aspiring novelist, we can prescribe a needs-based English tuition programme. Our tutoring complements schoolwork and follows the New Zealand curriculum.
A NumberWorks’nWords assessment for English and/or Maths will provide you with valuable insight into how your child is progressing.
Going to "work" each day is a delight when you are managing a NumberWorks’nWords Centre. We should know because that's what we do.
Jan originally taught mathematics in secondary schools, then re-trained both as a primary school teacher and a SPELD tutor. Before she opened Dunedin NumberWorks’nWords she was lecturing in education at Massey University. Over the years Jan has been both an “at home” and a “working Mum” to four children.
Naomi is also a mother, but after you see one of her paintings, you’ll call her an artist. Naomi trained and began her teaching career in Dunedin. To her twenty-plus years of teaching in Otago primary schools she has added stints teaching English overseas, held the role of Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator and worked with children with dyslexia. Most recently she taught at Waitati Primary School.
We both agree that when it comes to jobs we’ve had, nothing comes close to the fun of working with our wonderful tutors and the young learners at the Dunedin NumberWorks'nWords.
Most of all, we love chatting with parents about their awesome children, so please come in and tell us about yours.

We found the personal approach and individual tuition from NumberWorks to be of great benefit to our son. Also appreciated the frequent feedback from the head teacher.— Vicki W
A brilliant Maths programme tailored specifically for each child, encouraging confidence, and most importantly enjoyment. Strikes the right balance between difficulty & fun, within an environment of ongoing achievement. Would certainly recommend to any Parent or Caregiver wanting to provide their child with the extra tools to succeed.— Gretchen B
