A career in banking and finance is also a good career option. This can include managing loans, studying economic and business trends, finding investment opportunities, doing research projects, advising businesses about financial decisions, creating budgets, auditing reports, evaluating risk analysts, current and historical financial data and much more.

As your child grows up, it is an excellent opportunity to introduce your child to a finance-related career. A career in accountancy or finance offers a range of options for maths enthusiasts as these professions rely on maths to interpret financial facts, on financial analysts to collect data, interpret data and figures and require a robust knowledge of maths concepts.

Most students will go on to complete a postgraduate degree with academic research to enhance their math career and job opportunities. Further study for professional certifications such as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) can increase a graduate's ability and job prospects.

Statistician

Maths enables us to think analytically and helps to further logical thinking and improves our problem-solving and reasoning skills. If you believe that your child has a passion for maths and numbers, this gives you all the more reason to enhance and develop their natural skills and abilities. A possible career avenue for a maths enthusiast could be working as a statistician or mathematician, specialising in statistics and quantitative data analysis.

Their work is related to the collation, analysis, and interpretation of data and statistics. Statisticians interpret data and make conclusions. These essential skills all utilise the solid foundation of maths, so it is important to support your children’s maths development.

Maths tutoring for your child could be a good option, as it focuses on foundational mathematical concepts and key skills and can lead to more advanced study, which helps to stretch the boundaries of knowledge and career prospects.

To become a statistician or research mathematician, a Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, or other related to the field of mathematics is necessary. Additionally, further study towards a Master's or Doctorate degree in mathematics may be required for more advanced positions in statistical research projects, statistical tools, operational research, and numerical analysis.

Data Analyst

Data analysts process and analyse data about financial records and economic efficiency to draw conclusions and make decisions for a business or individual. They hold the responsibility of making sense of the data they collect to help the business thrive. Data analysts are not only essential for businesses to succeed, but they also play a crucial role in making data-driven decisions in government agencies, healthcare organizations, and other industries. Different types of data may include sales figures, costs, or even consumer behaviour. Professionals in this field purely work with numbers, data, and statistics, so if your child expresses a love for numbers, this may be a great career option for them.

Software Engineer

As we live in a digital era, most of us now rely on technology and devices in day-to-day life. If your child is tech-savvy and is passionate about maths and technology, software engineering may be a suitable career choice for them. Without software engineers, we wouldn’t have the smartphone apps we use on a daily basis, or the games our children play on tablets to keep them entertained. Software developers are the masterminds behind the programmes that we use to facilitate our work and navigate through our daily lives.

Actuary

The field of actuary includes dealing with risks, whether it’s financial, insurance, or business, and it involves helping companies to predict the risk of uncertain or unexpected events. To be successful in this field one must utilise their knowledge and expertise in analytics, statistics, and data. Actuaries can also work in various fields such as finance, insurance, or healthcare. If your child enjoys or is proficient in number crunching and analysing data, pursuing a career in this field may be of interest to them.

Data Scientist

Another highly desirable career option for math enthusiasts is a data scientist. Data science is a rapidly growing field that combines math, computer science, and statistics to derive insights from large sets of data. In data science, data scientists often use mathematical models and algorithms to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in data, and to make predictions and business strategies based on that data.

With the explosion of big data used in today's world, there is an increasing demand and job market for data scientists in a wide range of industries, including the healthcare industry, finance, marketing, physical sciences, and more.
